History of Stainless Steel Cookware

While steel cooking pots have been used in some form since the time of ancient Greece and Rome, the formula for modern stainless steel cookware has evolved over the centuries.  The current formulation for high quality stainless steel cookware was developed in the 19th century by French metallurgist, Leon Guillet, who prepared alloys that would today be considered stainless steel.

Inspired by the great French kitchens, Cuisinart began making professional cookware following the traditions of great craftsmen.  The Cuisinart MultiClad Pro stainless steel cookware is designed to meet the demands of professional chefs and home cooks alike.

Cuisinart MultiClad Pro – the Best Stainless Steel Cookware that Won’t Break the Bank

If you search the internet for the best stainless stainless steel cookware,  you will soon discover that Cuisinart MultiClad Pro is one of the most popular affordable high quality stainless steel cookware sets for home cooks from, Cuisinart,  a leader in home appliances.

Cuisinart MultiClad Pro popularity is based on the following:

  • High quality construction
  • affordable price
  • functionality in the kitchen

This is the best selling stainless steel cookware on Amazon.com, with nearly 90% of the reviewers giving this cookware 4-5 stars.

Cuisinart MultiClad Pro is made using the same tri-ply construction method as professional stainless steel cookware costing well over $1,000.  Cuisinart starts with an aluminum core.  It is sandwiched between two pieces of high quality 18/10 stainless steel.

Metallurgists discovered that aluminum is the best conductor of heat, but is not strong enough to be used by itself for cookware.  Stainless steel by itself is a poor conductor of heat.  It is a sturdy metal, doesn’t scratch easily, and is non-reactive.  It is beautiful to look at.

By bonding aluminum to stainless steel, you get a beautiful and sturdy cookware with even heat distribution on the bottom and sides for perfect cooking.

What separates Cuisinart MultiClad Pro from All the Others?  The answer is the Quality:

Stainless Steel Cooking Tip

A tip for cooking meat in a stainless steel skillet is to first let the skillet get hot before adding the ingredients.  Putting meat into a cold stainless steel skillet with cause the food to stick and make clean up a lot harder.

Once the oil is hot, put your beef, chicken or fish in the skillet, and move it around a couple of times to let a crust start to form and then let it sit untouched for a few minutes in the hot oil.  This thin crust will allow your food to cook perfectly, will lock in flavors and will prevent food from sticking to the bottom of the skillet.  This will also make clean up a lot easier.

What is 18/10 Stainless Steel?

With Stainless steel cookware, 18/10 refers to the percentage of alloys mixed with steel to create stainless steel.  Standard 18/10 stainless steel contains 18% chromium and 10% nickel and is the standard alloy mixture for high quality stainless steel cookware.

The Cuisinart MultiClad Pro and other high quality stainless steel cookware manufacturers that make induction ready 18/10 stainless steel cookware, which has a magnetized bottom,   were required to eliminate the  18/10 stainless steel designation and now must use the designation:  induction-ready stainless steel exterior and stainless steel interior.

Stainless steel cookware that is not induction ready can still use the 18/10 stainless steel designation.

What is Induction-ready Stainless Steel Cookware?

Induction Ready Stainless steel contains materials that create a magnetic surface.

Induction burners have a magnetic field.  They will only turn on and radiate heat when a pan with a magnetic field is placed on it.  Only the pan gets hot, and the area around the burner stays cool to the touch.  This prevents burns.

Once the pan is lifted from the induction burner the magnetic field is broken.  The burner turns off, and is immediately cool to the touch.

Cuisinart MultClad Pro can be used with Induction burners, gas range or electric stovetops.

Due to requiring magnetized materials on the bottom of the stainless steel pan, this changes the alloy mixture.  Cuisinart had to change the designation 18/10 stainless steel to “induction ready stainless steel,” even though it has the same strength, durability and beauty as 18/10 stainless steel.

If the stainless steel is not induction ready it can then still use the designation “18/10 Stainless Steel.”

What is the Cuisinart Heat Surround Technology?

Heat Surround Technology

With the exclusive Heat Surround Technology in Cuisinart MultiClad Pro, this allows even heat distribution along the bottom and up the sides.  This allows for even heating, and preventing hot or cold spots.  Your food will cook evenly every time.

 Non-Reactive Stainless Steel Cooking Surface

One of the advantages of cooking with Cuisinart Multi-Clad Pro is that it is a non-reactive metal, meaning it will not react with food, so it does not change the molecular structure of the food, and does not alter the flavor of the food.

The metal will not absorb the colors or odors of other food items prepared in the Cuisinart MultiClad Cookware.  Your chicken will look and taste like chicken, not the liver and onion you prepared the night before!

Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel Cookware Can Withstand High Heat

The Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel Cookware is designed to handle high oven heat or broiler temperatures up to 500 degrees F.

This is a significant advantage over most other types of cookware. Most other types of cookware can only handle temperatures up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Your Cusinart stainless steel can go from stovetop to oven and even to the broiler, with no damage to the outer shell or cooking surface.

The Riveted on Handles Will Never Come Off

Cuisinart Stainledss Steel Cookware

Cuisinart MultiClad Pro is made with ergonomic solid 18/10 stainless steel handles that are permanently riveted on and are designed to stay cool to the touch on the stove top.

Cheap stainless steel cookware often has handles that are held on with screws.  They can become lose or fall off, and can get very hot.  This can lead to injury.

With the Cuisinart Cookware, you will never have to worry about handles falling off, or becoming too hot to touch, which can cause damage or a painful burn.
